Ohio Dominican University Provides Personal Touch for Students with Elluminate vRoom
Dr. Renee Aitken, director for the Center for Instructional Technology and eLearning at Ohio Dominican University, has discovered that Elluminate vRoom is a great way to help students learn individually. She offers online faculty the use of her vRoom whenever students are stumbling on a problem and can't seem to get the concepts through the more traditional email, phone call, or website.
The virtual room is an excellent way to facilitate one-on-one discussion over tough concepts. For example, Elluminate vRoom has been used in accounting classes because the whiteboard allows the student and teacher to work through the problems and find solutions. The students love the personal attention, and the professor finds it easier to show the students how to do the math. Other uses include one-to-one reviews of exams, sharing of draft papers and projects, and just communicating individually.
