What is a Center of Excellence?

A Center of Excellence is an educational institution using Elluminate's technologies in achieving demonstrable real world results such as increased student achievement and retention. Typically, the Center of Excellence status is given to an institution for a period of 1 year.

Where is a Center of Excellence?

A Center of Excellence can represent either a physical place on the campus of an educational institution or a virtual space on the Internet. It provides a unique opportunity to showcase Elluminate technologies in use, demonstrating how such technology can improve learning in the classroom and/or the administrative functions of an institution. Ultimately, the Center of Excellence will serve as the producer of content for public consumption.

What the benefits of becoming a Center of Excellence?

For the educational institution, a commitment to Elluminate's Center of Excellence program distinguishes it as being advanced in its use of Elluminate technology. As a Center of Excellence, the institution will participate in a web-based community of institutions doing work in similar areas. This community will foster communication and further enhance relations between institutions.

For the Elluminate Hero at the Center of Excellence, there are concrete benefits as well. The Hero will receive up to $1000 for travel expenses to any conference where they present their usage of and experience with Elluminate technologies. Further, the Hero also gets a lifetime Elluminate Virtual Office (with 10 concurrent seats) which they can use for personal and professional purposes.

What do you need to become a Center of Excellence?

  • Hero The institute must have an Elluminate Hero — a person or a team of people who are willing to take on the work of applying for, becoming and maintaining the Center of Excellence status.
  • Demonstrable Results The institute and hero must be able to point to demonstrable results by using Elluminate in their programs. These can be in student achievement, teacher training, student retention or any other metrics that the institute and hero choose to measure. The Center of Excellence program exists to showcase groundbreaking use of Elluminate technologies.

What are you committing to if you become a Center of Excellence?

  • Institute and Hero The institute and hero might be called upon by Elluminate to discuss their experiences with the press. Their names, logos, photographs, videos or audio might be used for marketing purposes by Elluminate to showcase the achievements made by the Center of Excellence.
  • Hero The Hero might be asked to share their expertise and experiences with the Elluminate user community or the Education community in general using online webcasts or by presenting at industry conferences.

Demands on the Hero's time should not be extreme or continuous. In the application and early approval process, this time commitment should not exceed 4-6 hours. The ongoing sharing of the Hero's knowledge can be done in the online Elluminate user community and should not exceed 2-4 hours per month.
